177 Do You Practice Grounding? What it is, what it does, and why you should try it.
I'm curious if you have ever tried grounding or earthing or know what it is or if you do it on a regular basis. First I'm going to talk about the benefits of grounding, the research behind it and why it is a good thing to do.
Grounding or earthing is when your body has direct skin contact with the surface of the earth. You can do this through walking barefoot, lying on the ground, submerging in water like in a lake or swimming in the ocean. There are also grounding mats and sheets and other equipment that help you achieve grounding. It is thought that the electrical charges from the earth can have a positive effect on your body. The theory is that grounding impacts the living matrix which is the central connector in the body between living cells, the electrical conductivity within the matrix is impacted through grounding, restoring the natural defense system of the body.
Multidisciplinary research shows that grounding can improve:
Physiology and health
Inflammation
Immune response
Wound healing
Chronic inflammatory and autoimmune disease
Chronic fatigue and chronic pain
Anxiety
Depression
Sleep disorders
Cardiovascular disease
How I personally ground
Whenever I have the chance I take my shoes off and I walk without my shoes. It's really great to do it on grass or at the beach on sand. Also rolling up your pants and at least just putting your shins in the water and walking around in the water. It's really good for you. Just having a chance to lay directly on the ground is a really great way to experience grounding. It's such a simple and easy thing to do. And with the benefits that it has been shown to improve, it's a great thing to just try and add into your daily health practice. Maybe you go for a walk every morning. When you get back home, take off your shoes, walk around on the grass for a little bit, and see how you feel.
I would love to hear if you've ever practiced grounding before or if you have even more research on grounding or maybe some personal perspectives on that. I found a research article that actually had pictures of wounds that had been healed through a series of grounding treatments and it's pretty incredible.
It just shows you that we need the earth to help revitalize us and help us be healthy.
